Before one of the biggest shootarounds of the season, Jamahl Mosley didn’t do what most NBA coaches would do.

There was no long film session. No overanalyzing the opponent. No last-minute tactical overload.

Instead, according to @NotoriousOHM, Mosley dimmed the room and played a short, three-minute highlight reel clips of his own players back in their NCAA tournament days. Big shots. Big moments. Pure confidence.

His message was simple: remember who you are.

And honestly, that says everything about the kind of coach he is.

Mosley understands something a lot of coaches overlook. At this level, talent isn’t the issue. Belief is. Rhythm is. Confidence is. These are elite players who’ve already proven themselves on big stages, and sometimes they don’t need more information they need a reminder.

That’s what Mosley gave them.

It might look like a small decision, but it says everything about who he is as a coach. That takes real awareness knowing your players, feeling the moment, and understanding what they truly need. Anyone can draw up a game plan. Not everyone can reach a locker room. And in that moment, Mosley didn’t just coach them he reminded them who they are.

That’s not easy to do in a league that’s obsessed with matchups, schemes, and adjustments.

But Mosley isn’t just coaching a game he’s building people. He’s building a culture where players feel seen, where they trust the message, and where they can play freely without overthinking every possession.

You can see it in how the Magic compete. You can feel the difference in them now. They’re playing with real confidence. They don’t look like a team still trying to figure things out anymore—they look like a group that’s starting to understand exactly who they are.

And that doesn’t happen without the right voice leading the locker room.

Win or lose this season, the Orlando Magic shouldn’t even think twice about their head coach. Jamahl Mosley has already proven his value. Not just in wins and losses, but in the way his players respond to him and the foundation he’s building.

Coaches like that aren’t easy to find.

And once you have one, you don’t let him go.
