After the noise, the physical play, and the frustration from the previous game, Victor Wembanyama came back looking locked in from the opening tip. No hesitation, just control. He finished with 27 points, 17 rebounds, five assists, and three blocks, but it was the way he did it that stood out. Calm, aggressive, and completely in rhythm.

“I felt good,” Wembanyama said postgame. And it showed immediately.

He had 18 points in the first quarter alone, setting a tone Minnesota never really recovered from. Every touch felt intentional, every possession steady. At just 22, he’s already putting himself in rare playoff company with numbers only a couple of all-time greats reached at that age.

But this wasn’t a one-man show.

Keldon Johnson brought his signature toughness with 21 points, De’Aaron Fox kept things flowing with 18, and Stephon Castle added 17 in a performance that felt bigger than the box score. The Spurs played together moving the ball, staying active defensively, and responding every time Minnesota tried to push back.

And the Wolves did push.

A fast start to the second half wiped away an 18-point deficit, pulling Minnesota even and swinging the momentum, only for a moment. Suddenly, Game 5 had the feel of another battle down the stretch.

But San Antonio didn’t flinch.

A couple of defensive stops, a momentum-swinging block from Johnson, and suddenly the Spurs had control again. Minnesota’s defense slipped, their rhythm stalled, and San Antonio took full advantage.

Anthony Edwards finished with 20 points, but never fully found a groove early. Julius Randle and Jaden McDaniels chipped in with 17 each, yet the Wolves couldn’t sustain enough consistency to match San Antonio’s pace.

The physicality was there all night extra bumps, extra words, the kind of tension you expect this deep in a series. But the Spurs handled it better. Where things could’ve gotten messy, they stayed composed.

Now, they’re one win away.

Game 6 shifts back to Minneapolis, with San Antonio holding a 3-2 lead and a chance to close the door. One more win, and they’re headed to the Western Conference Finals.

And if Wembanyama plays like this again, it might not take long.
